On The Waterfront in Liverpool

During July and August 2010, Liverpool’s world famous Albert Dock and Pier Head is set to become one of Britain’s greatest outdoor culture venue for an amazing season of free ‘On The Waterfront’ event for the whole family.

On Friday 6th to Sunday the 8th August, their will be an ambitious dance spectacular that promises to be one of the biggest and best open air events in Europe this year, and it’s in Liverpool.
Showcasing the very best in international outdoor dance, including the world famous Voala, Factoria Mascaro and UK based sensations Axial, plus live street theatre.

Opening with a bang, Friday the 6th August show will begin with an explosion of music and movement guaranteed to get you in the mood to dance. The sensuous Samba of the Liverpool Samba School will bring a touch of Rio to the waterfront with hypnotic percussion and vivacious dancers, while the funk-monster band 6ix Toys bring irresistible sounds and rhythms to the stage.

On top of all of this enjoy the delights of a variety of strolling performances and characters that will animate the Pier Head and build anticipation before the main event of the evening.

Then, As night falls, the spine-tingling moment you have been waiting for all evening will finally arrive. Set across the backdrop of the sky, the world-famous Argentinian aerial company Voala will reach for the stars during their striking and lyrical airborne show. Performing 100 feet above the crowds and accompanied by original live music, this magically spellbinding and breathtaking spectacle will entrance the crowds and make for an unforgettable night. If what I’ve seen on Liverpool ONE website (http://www.liverpool-one.com/website/1live-on-the-waterfront.aspx), the weekend looks like it’ll be a fantastic place to take the kids for a family day out in Liverpool, as events start from 12:30 in the afternoon, over the weekend.
